Good morning, Blogettes! If you're a Bride-to-Be in the UK, you're going to want to get comfy because boy, do I have a fun interview for you! Sarah from the blog
Poppy in Pearls has just officially launched her
online wedding boutique and is over here today sharing a little bit about her favourite buys for creative brides!
Hi Sarah! I'm so glad you could join us on Mimi Nicole today! Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started with the boutique?
Hi folks, my name is Sarah. Two years ago I was leading a very busy life in London working as
a commissioning Picture Editor for a well-known travel guide publisher and planning my own
wedding. One wedding, a six-month honeymoon and a move to the countryside later and here I am
in Bath, launching an online wedding boutique!
Poppy in Pearls is an online wedding boutique selling British made buys for creative brides. I've
scoured the UK to find beautiful invitations, jewellery, amazing hair accessories, gifts for your
bridesmaids and groom and even anniversary gifts and put them in one lovely site for you to browse and shop.
What made you want to start an online boutique for UK brides?
My dream is to have a physical shop but for the time being the online boutique is keeping me occupied. After planning my own big day, I just found the quirky handmade pieces were difficult
to find, especially when you are buying that last minute item in your lunch break at work. I want
to make it easy for brides to be, as well as their mums, sisters, friends and grooms to find those
independent makers creating beautiful unique pieces for their wedding day, here in the UK.

Any goals for Poppy in Pearls this first year?
Just to meet as many brides to be as possible and hope they find in Poppy in Pearls a little piece of inspiration and joy.
What's on offer at Poppy in Pearls?
Ultimately everything apart from the dress. From invitations, room décor, jewellery, hair accessories, veils and gifts to thank you cards. I also offer an intimate service. I want people to feel they can easily enquire about the paper pom they’ve seen on the website to know exactly what shade of blue it is or exactly how long the lace pendant is.
Describe your ideal wedding and what you would pull from Poppy in Pearls:
My own wedding was less than 18 months ago so I’m not quite ready to dream up a different
version. Ours was a very relaxed affair in a converted barn with the majority of wedding guests
staying on site--which was a big plus for us. If I had our wedding again now, I’d be filling the
barn with
gorgeous giant paper poms, wearing
this vintage hair comb in my up do, buying a
necklace for each of my bridesmaids to match their dresses. I'd decorate the table top with
these fabulous stars and gift my hubby
this print.
What advice do you have for those women who are planning their big day and trying to make it uniquely theirs?
I think you want your day, ultimately, to be a reflection of you as a couple. My motto is ban the word ‘should’. Your day is about you and your partner, there’s a million and one things that brides and grooms feel they ‘should’ do but ultimately it is your day and you should do what you want to do. When we were planning our day we picked five words we wanted to reflect our wedding day, each time we were about to book or pay for something we checked to see if it fit with our original hopes for the day. It helped us keep on track and not get too carried away with what people told us we ‘should’ do!
Just for Fun:
Favourite bouquet mixture?
I had Lisianthus, Lily and Roses on my big day and loved it. I’m also a huge fan of Anemones and
Dahlias.
Are you a cryer at weddings?
My friends tease me for my obsession with weddings and yep I always cry. I just love the romance
of it all, the excitement and nerves of the groom as he wait for his future wife, that moment
when the bride walks down in her dress that she loves and hopes her man will love it just as much! The vows and promises they make to each other, I just love it all; I’m a wedding junkie!
Favourite piece from your new store?
I love the exclusive invitation suites we have launching in March, but my favourite thing at the
moment would be
this hair comb. I wore my hair up on my wedding day and loved it, so maybe this would encourage me to wear my hair up more?
